Adventure Race

Brett and Emily along with friend Paul and Christy participated in an adventure race in Michaex State Forrest today. The race consisted of many parts, it began at 10am. Actually, the day began around 6:30 am with a wake up and french toast breakfast at the cabin. Yum. It was great having the team stay with us and get their start at a closer location. This pic show two parts, running and biking through various sections of the park.

Another part of the race was "challenges", puzzles or tasks for the teams. Challenges of the mind along with the bodies.

Next there was a paddle section on Long Pine Dam. It was a beautiful scene with the fall leaves, the sun and blue water. What a wonderful day for this race. The teams took rafts onto the lake and found clues to the phrase that moved them on to the final phases of the race, "Great Race".

The finish line and the end to a nice day. Thirty-three teams and GOAT finish lucky 13. Good job GOAT!!

Birthday Trip to CA

A wonderful visit with Aaron and Jane in Eureka, CA. We had an OK trip here, with only one hour and a half delay at San Fransico Airport. While there we had a close up view of the Blue Angels. But once in Eureka we were blessed with 5 sunny days so far. The temps are cool, 60's, but no complaints with the nice sunny days. We have 5 more to go and hope to have good weather to end our trip. Here is Jane and Aaron in his new livingroom.

A little "father/son" bonding for Les and Aaron. Aaron had a project car that needed a new clutch. Two days of togetherness under the Nissan and buckets of grease, yielded a smooth running second car.

We drove north on Rt101 to Prarie Creek SP and Fern Canyon. What an interesting place to walk. A narrow canyon with the walls drapped in lush ferns. It is said that part of Jurassic Park was filmed here. The size of the greenery and trees are amazing.

An evening trip to Samoa beach to exercise Jane and enjoy the surf. The surf was very rough, but the sun was bright. What a lovely spot. We stopped at the Cookhouse for supper. That is an interesting place with family style meals and an interesting logging museum.
